Marilyn (Whittouck) Heron ’66 was a trailblazer in her field of mathematics. She credits LMU with giving her and her late husband, Robert Heron ’64, opportunities to succeed. Now, she is paying it forward with two gifts in her will to support future Lions.
Lee Avila '81 credits many of her accomplishments to her experience as a student at Loyola Marymount University. That’s why she has pledged a $400,000 bequest to support an ambitious Latina student committed to making her own way in life.
Born only two weeks apart, this LMU couple, who wish to remain anonymous, met while studying engineering at what was then Loyola University. They fondly recall their time on campus, some of the most enjoyable days of their lives, and note the robust curriculum gave them the necessary tools to tackle life. They married, launched successful careers and are now focusing on their philanthropic passions.
